Become a Director
Dear Parents and Parishioners,
The Pope Francis Catholic Multi Academy Company (PFMAC) believes that each person is a
unique creation made in the image and likeness of God, called by name with a special vocation and gifts to bring to the world. We seek to develop these talents in each individual by being a beacon for Catholic education in Oxfordshire.
This is our vision, and I am writing to invite you to consider being a part of delivering this vision by joining our Board of Directors. Our Directors are committed volunteers who through their Catholic faith and professional experience benefit the children within our schools. Appointed by the Archbishop of Birmingham they are accountable to him, the Members (Diocesan Trustees), the Secretary of State for Education and the wider community for the quality of the education provided to students and for the appropriate expenditure of public money. The Board holds ultimate legal accountabilities for all aspects of operational delivery of the PFMAC and is required to have systems to assure themselves of the quality, safety and good practice of the affairs of the PFMAC.
We are currently recruiting several new Directors who will strengthen the Board and help us drive forward our vision. We are looking for committed Catholics who will serve our community by bringing their professional experiences to the Board and can think strategically. We are particularly recruiting people with skills in the following areas: human resources, governance and risk management, finance and audit, operations, health and safety, educational standards, safeguarding and strategic leadership. However, any professional experience would be helpful, and we are keen to hear from people with a variety of skills and experience.
Moreover, we are committed to diversifying the membership of our Board so that it reflects the communities we serve. We would therefore like to encourage expressions of interest from groups which are currently under represented. Candidates will be recommended for appointment based on their skills, experience and potential contribution to the Board.
If you would like to find out more about the role or express interest please contact our Governance Manager, Sarah Sienkiewicz, at ssienkiewicz@pfmac.org.uk. If you currently serve on a Local Governing Body in one of our schools and wish to be appointed as a director you will need to resign from the LGB. Please note that employees of the MAC are not eligible to be appointed as directors.
Please do prayerfully consider whether you could offer yourself to serve in this way and also share this opportunity with family, friends and colleagues within the Catholic community.
Yours sincerely,
Paul Concannon
Chair of the Board of Directors
